Tinsel won two all -breed Best In Shows and took a group placement at Westminster as well as being a three-time Westminster Best of Breed winner. She won the Briard Club of America National from the Veteran's Class under the esteemed Ann Rogers Clark. She was ranked in the top ten Herding dogs nationally in 1988 and 1989. At the time, she held the breed's all-time record for most group placements at 175. She produced 15 champions out of just three litters. She was also one of the top hip producers of all time with 14 OFA-certified offspring.
Being a dog trainer, I come in contact with huge numbers of dogs of all breeds, as well as many Briards. I can say unequivocally, that Tinsel had THE best temperament of any dog I have EVER known. She was stable, friendly, constant. Tinsel was described once in the national dog press as the "extroverted Briard bitch." Even though she was sunny with a wonderful enthusiasm for life, she was a Briard through and through. She was a talented sheep herder, and a formidable protector of the car and house. What set her apart so strongly with all these good qualities was her incredible optimism. She greeted every situation and each day with the most positive and optimistic belief-no matter what-no matter when. Her value to the breed was tremendous in her talent for reproducing her temperament, and still in many generations removed, we see Tinsel's contributions.
Lastly, she was a gifted mover. Her structure and proportions permitted incredible suspended movement at the trot with extreme reach and drive and perfect movement coming and going with beautiful alignment of feet and hocks.
